In this media project of creating a school music magazine there are a variety of things that I have learn to do on different processors making my understanding of creating a website more intellectual and now I have a better knowledge and understanding of doing a website and even using Photoshop on a day to day basis.
College magazines pictures were taken today, one for our front page and content page, I had a range of different models so that I can have a fair amount of pictures to choose from, one little problem occurred were we were using a Macro lens and it was my first using one which was little different from the normal kit lens so I had to get used to handling it but after a few shots I got the hang of it, I also helped out a hand to students who have never used a SLR camera, and took part in being a model myself, which I found new and interesting as I’m normally the one behind the camera, it was a fun experience but I don’t think it’s better than taking the photo.
I took a lesson for Photoshopping my pictures for my college magazine, I wanted to change around the exposures and contrasts to make the photos stand out, I also took away a light patch on the models forehead by using the healing tool in Photoshop. After fixing a few things I started to think about the different mastheads and cover-lines and the overall layout, I started to play around on Photoshop changing colours and fonts and kept changing until I was happy with my image, for my contents page I still had to take my photos and so i planned to do simple photos of an open textbook, or someone drawing in an art book.
Now that I successfully completed my contents and front page I started doing research on my music magazine, now that I have a brief idea of what is expected I could start to focus and analyses different magazines, I first done textual analysis and this was to get a better knowledge of what a normal music magazine should look like, it also helped me learn better types of terminology used in media studies, E.g.: low key and high key lighting, I done three different textual analysis on three different types of genres this was because I wasn’t sure what type of magazine I want to create. The textual analysis was hard and i struggled because it was hard to use the right words to describe why the editor used such and such colours or fonts.
We were told that within our music magazine we had to have a double-paged spread (DPS) this, this was basically two pages about a band or artist, the double page spread is for getting to know the artist better and what he/she is planning during this year or what they have already achieved, so i looked at different DPS and found one to talk about, Amy Winehouse was known for her drug addiction yet for her vocal voice, she was an interesting character to talk about so i analyzed the page and pointed out the important information.
Content analysis was the next thing that i did and i had to compare 3+ content pages and show their similarities and differences and because i again chose three different genres of content analysis it was easier for me dispute three of the contents of why each of them is different and which one has a stronger look than the other.

Starting double paged spread
After the mock ups I went through to making a layout for my double paged spread (DPS), which would end up as my final magazine page layout.
In the first picture on the (left) I started off with making the title and tried to make it stand out, using black, white and different shades of yellow and experimenting until I was happy with the result. Then I went on to doing the borders, and thinking about how the page will be set out including the text. I thought of were the pictures would go and put boxes with black border so that I don't forget were the picture should go, as well as that I had to find the appropriate picture suitable for the magazine.

Final outcome
This is the last touches before the DPS, I made some changes to the mastheads background, also i added more text to both sides of the magazines.
Starting Front cover
This is my scheme that i set up for my front page cover, i've learnt to make the colours appropriate and suitable for the magazine cover, the cover lines are all different sizes with different fonts as well, this shows the balance of what cover line is more important from looking at the font size and how well it stands out. Got some eye catching free posters as well put in to make it attracting, the Limited Edition text is too make the reader fell part of the magazine as if he was in a group.
The photo cover is well put in as for you can see all the things that make the magazine stand out. The magazine being £2.99 is from the research I made for it to look legit as well as the barcode, it shows it's authentic. Here I've learnt to lay my work in a way to meet the standards of a real magazine, it's shows that I've developed the understanding of where everything should go.
